Since 1993, The Green Institute has grown from its roots as a neighborhood-based movement to become one of the state’s leading non-profit innovators developing tangible solutions that improve the environment and communities.

The Green Institute is home to a broad range of programs and initiatives, which include: ReUse Center and DeConstruction Services, Green Building, Community Energy and Consulting Services.


What's New

The ReUse Center, a program of the Green Institute, was recently featured in the CS Monitor alongside other leading national salvaged building materials enterprises in an article on the state of the scrap industry. 

The Green Institute celebrated its 15th anniversary at Patrick's Cabaret on November 13.  Thanks to all the hard working staff, board members and volunteers!

The Green Institute's Phillips Eco-Enterprise Center has earned the prestigious ENERGY STAR designation!!  This mark of superior energy performance identifies it as more efficient than 75% of commercial buildings in the nation even after its tenth year of operation.

The ReUse Center was among the top 100 people, places and things identified as Reasons to Love the Twin Cities by the Twin Cities Metro Magazine (2008).
